Introduction

Development Activities of Society (DAS) is a non-profit, non-political organization founded in 1998 in Jhenaidah, Bangladesh, working to improve the lives of underprivileged communities through microcredit, education, health, housing, agriculture, and other development programs. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use das-bd.org, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information We Collect

When you make a donation through our website, we collect the information you provide in the donation form: your title, first and last name, email address, phone number, address, postal code, country, the purpose of your donation, and the amount and currency you choose to give. When you contact us directly (for example by email or a contact form), we collect your name, email address, phone number if provided, and the content of your message.

We do not collect payment card details ourselves. Card and mobile-banking information is entered directly on our payment partner's secure page, described below.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information you provide to process your donation, send you confirmation of your donation, respond to your questions or messages, and maintain accurate records of donations received for our own accounting and reporting purposes. We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell or rent your information to third parties.

Payment Processing

Donations made through das-bd.org are processed by SSLCommerz, a licensed payment gateway in Bangladesh. When you donate, we share the information necessary to process the transaction — your name, email, phone number, address, and the donation amount — with SSLCommerz. DAS does not store your card number, CVV, or other payment credentials; these are handled entirely by SSLCommerz's secure payment page. Every transaction is verified server-to-server with SSLCommerz before we mark a donation as successful, so a payment status shown only in your browser can never be forged.

Cookies and Local Storage

Our website uses your browser's local storage to remember your language preference (English or Bangla) so you don't have to reselect it on every visit. This is stored only on your own device and is never sent to us or to any third party.

If you sign in to our administrative dashboard as DAS staff, a session cookie is used to keep you logged in. This cookie is only relevant to authorized staff and is not set for ordinary visitors browsing or donating on the site.

We do not use Google Analytics, Meta/Facebook Pixel, advertising cookies, or any other third-party tracking or analytics tool on das-bd.org.

How We Share Information

We share your donation information only with SSLCommerz, to the extent necessary to process your payment. We do not sell, rent, or otherwise share your personal information with any other third party, except where required by law or by the regulatory bodies that oversee our work.

Data Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the information you provide from unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. However, no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Data Retention

We retain donation records for as long as necessary to meet our accounting, reporting, and legal obligations. If you contact us and ask us to delete personal information that we are not otherwise required to keep, we will make reasonable efforts to do so.

Your Rights

Children's Privacy

Our website and donation services are intended for use by adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Regulatory Context

DAS operates under the oversight of the Microcredit Regulatory Authority (MRA) and is registered with the NGO Affairs Bureau of the Government of Bangladesh. Information about these bodies is available at mra.gov.bd and ngoab.gov.bd.
