Micro-credit Program

Microfinance Program

Microfinance is a transformative approach that provides essential financial services to low-income individuals, serving as a key catalyst in helping people—especially women—escape poverty. Borrowers in this system are typically individuals from Least Developed Countries (LDCs) who lack collateral or a prior credit history, preventing them from accessing conventional banking services. This financial exclusion often leaves them vulnerable to exploitation by unscrupulous moneylenders who charge excessively high interest rates. Microfinance is founded on the belief that even a small loan can empower individuals to participate in economic activities and build a better future.

DAS is committed to breaking this cycle of exploitation by providing financial support to underprivileged communities through its microfinance program. Since its inception in 2001, DAS has focused on promoting self-reliance and creating meaningful employment opportunities for people in need. By encouraging savings and responsible lending, the program prioritizes income-generating activities that help individuals improve their economic circumstances and achieve financial independence.

Currently, the DAS microfinance program operates through five strategically located branch offices—four across two upazilas in Jhenaidah District and one in Dhaka City. The program is supported by financial partners, including BASIC Bank, Standard Bank, and The Union Bank, alongside DAS's own financial resources.
