BIWTC will take immediate action to stop the use and sale of tobacco inside the ferries. On October 15, 2023, Sunday, a consultation meeting titled 'Importance and actions to be taken to implement the Law on Smoking and Tobacco Use (Control) in Maritime Transport and Public Places' was held at the BIWTC Head Office under the joint initiative of the Development Activities of Society (DAS), Bangladesh Anti-Tobacco Alliance (BATA), and Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC). Aminul Islam Bakul, Team Lead of the DAS-Tobacco Control Program, presided over the meeting, where Mr. Ferdous Alam, (Additional Secretary), Chairmen, BIWTC, was the chief guest. DAS Policy Analyst Asrar Habib gave a PowerPoint presentation on the program, moderated by Moazzem Hossain Tipu, Senior Program Officer, DAS Tobacco Control Program.
On 24th September 2023, DAS successfully Organized a vigilance team meeting with the launch owner, labourer, vigilance team members and others at Sadarghat Launch Terminal, Dhaka.

Throughout the discussion, he committed to do everything in his capability to make the Sadarghat launch terminal smoke-free.
