Project Title
Enforcing Tobacco Control Law TO05 in Bus and Water Transport: Umpiring through Capacity Building and Communication.

Create and sustain a smoke-free environment in public transportation systems by
enhancing enforcement, building capacity, and ensuring continuous monitoring
and compliance.

Specific Objectives:
Objective 1: Strengthen and institutionalize enforcement mechanisms for Tobacco
Control (TC) law by developing clear procedures, enhancing enforcement authority
powers, and creating effective reporting systems, while focusing on raising
awareness and sensitizing policymakers through one-on-one meetings, especially in
light of the government's plan to repeal the Police Act.
Objective 2: Build the capacity of transport authority officials and relevant
stakeholders to effectively enforce smoke-free policies across public transportation
systems, with a particular emphasis on all Dhaka City BRTC bus stations.

Narrative
Objectives 3: Develop three bus terminals and one major water port in Dhaka City
as model smoke-free and TAPs free zones through targeted enforcement and
capacity-building efforts.
Objectives 4: Monitor, evaluate, document, and disseminate best practices and
compliance levels within public transportation systems to ensure sustained
